The Devon Junior and Minor League is one of the largest and best youth leagues in the country. Tom French & Associates are pleased to be able to support one of the participating teams, Plymstock United Colts under 14 girls team.
There are some 55 clubs and over 340 teams participating in the league in many different divisions. Plymstock United Colts are competing with eight other girls teams in the Under 14 Vivid Division.
The sponsorship from Tom French & Associates has enabled the girls to have a smart new kit to kick off the 2016/17 season in.
Dave Harding, an adviser at Tom French & Associates has instigated this relationship and is a keen footballer himself, having played competitively since the age of 16 as well as refereeing, he is the girls team manager.
“It’s great to be able to help Plymstock United Colts start their new season in a striking new kit. As a keen sportsman myself I think it’s important to encourage youngsters to participate in sport and in healthy competition which this league allows. Its’ really rewarding working with them, and watching them progress.
“Women’s football has grown rapidly in recent years and key to this growth is participation at the grass roots level in leagues such as this. Football is a fun game and helps to improve the participant’s self-esteem whilst encouraging them to create new friendships. Sports such as football play a key role in reducing and preventing obesity, particularly in teenagers.”
Missing from the photograph is new signing Maisie Godfrey. The girls next games are at home to SB Frankfort on the 29th October and at home to Bodmin Town on the 5th November.
